Administrative Assistant with Public Works
Working under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director or designee, the Administrative Assistant will provide general administrative support and customer service to Public Works.
Duties include managing calls, assisting co-workers and the public, maintaining departmental files, distributing mail, preparing and reconciling purchase orders, preparing purchase requisitions, and payments, preparing routine correspondence, and data entry utilizing various programs.
Must work effectively and efficiently and establish professional and productive working relationships with the public, City of Saint Paul officials and staff. Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and have the ability to learn, understand, and apply multiple departmental procedures, tasks and software.
Police Sergeant
The Police Sergeant serves as an all-hazards emergency first responder. The Police Sergeant works in coordination with Village Public Safety Officers and is involved in field patrol, investigations, crime prevention, community relations, emergency medical services, search and rescue, and related services and activities; assumes responsibility for assigned special programs, projects or activities; coordinates activities with other agencies; and performs a variety of administrative and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
The Police Sergeant works under the direct supervision of the City Manager. This is considered a mid-level position where work is performed according to established policies, procedures, and/or protocols.
The position involves frequent contact with Village Public Safety Officers, Alaska State Troopers, City employees and the general public. This position must present a professional look and wear Department issued uniform.

INVITATION TO BID NO. RFP 25-03: Request For Proposals For 35% Conceptual Design, Environmental Review And Permitting For The City South Dock Renovations And New Berthing Dolphins Project

The City of Saint Paul, Alaska (“Owner”) is accepting proposals for the construction of upgrades to the City’s bulk fuel storage compound, including replacement of the retail fuel storage and dispensing system, upgrades to the bulk transfer truck rack, and provision of related gasoline and diesel piping, sensors, meters, wiring, and controls for the Bulk Fuel Utility. The Owner and Electric Power Systems, Inc. (“Engineer”) have prepared this bid solicitation.

The Project, in its entirety, includes the design, engineering, environmental review, permitting, procurement, and construction specifically to:
- Renovate the City South Dock: Replacing the used vehicle tires currently being used as fenders with modern, energy-absorbing fenders; replacing and upgrading the broken, missing, and substandard bull rails, ladders, and cleats; adding three, 80-ton bollards for large vessel mooring; and installing fire extinguishers and life rings.
- Install new berthing dolphins: Installing five, side-tie berthing dolphins with energy-absorbing fenders connected by a continuous catwalk to increase the effective mooring length of the City South Dock.

INVITATION TO BID NO. RFQ 25-04: Request For Quotation For Onsite Construction Foreman/Supervisor

The City of Saint Paul Alaska is seeking a qualified Construction Foreman / Supervisor to work with the city employees within the public works department on the Aalax Landfill Development Project.
The Aalax Landfill Development Project is currently underway to develop a new landfill at the Aalax site near Polovina Hill. This project includes new landfill cells, fencing, signage, equipment building, access road and purchase of equipment for solid waste management including new burn boxes, heavy equipment, and drop boxes.
The Construction Foreman/Supervisor is a working position for up to four months that could have options for extensions. This should be on a Time & Materials basis, but open for negotiations. The primary focus for this position will be to erect a new 30×40×14′ 6″ wood pole building (equipment garage) at the City’s newly developed landfill. Work will also include installation of new landfill fencing, gates and other improvements. The City expects the work to be completed by November 31, 2025.
