Mechanic with Public Works Department – Motor Pool Division
A Mechanic identifies and diagnoses defects of City equipment and vehicles and performs necessary repairs, including preventive maintenance.
This position works under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director or designee and may take functional direction from the Public Works Administrative Assistant. This is considered an entry level to intermediate position where work is performed according to established procedures with little variance from those procedures required.
Accounting Clerk with Finance Department
The Accounting Clerk performs general purchasing and receiving functions and may also perform other accounting duties as assigned including but not limited to cashier.
This position works under the direct supervision of the Accounting Supervisor and Finance Director. This is considered an entry level to intermediate position where work is performed according to established procedures with little variance from those procedures required.
The Accounting Clerk position requires a tactful, pleasant, courteous, and diplomatic manner, and a neat appearance.
Facilities Maintenance Worker with Public Works Department – Maintenance and Operations Division
Facilities Maintenance Worker will assist with maintaining City facilities by performing general preventive maintenance, construction, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.
This position works under the direct supervision Public Works Director or designee and may take functional direction from the City Clerk or Public Works Administrative Assistant. This is considered an entry level position where work is performed according to established policies, procedures, and/or protocols with little variance from those procedures.
Bulk Fuel Operator with Public Works Department – Bulk Fuel Utility
A Bulk Fuel Operator dispenses fuel at the gas station, heating fuel, to residential and commercial customers and is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate and handling of fuel. This position also ensures the preventive maintenance of equipment and machinery. This position works under the general supervision of the Public Works Director or designee. This is considered an entry-level position where work is performed according to established procedures with little variance from those procedures required.
The position involves extensive contact with the public and division employees, frequent contact with other departments and other entities on Saint Paul Island. Contact requires the exercise of diplomacy. The working environment is inherently dangerous due to the nature of the position and the work involved. Close attention to the safety of the work environment is required.

Request For Proposals for Regional Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for Saint Paul and Saint George Islands, and Pribilof Islands region
The City of Saint Paul, Alaska is seeking requests for proposals from qualified consultants for preparing a Regional Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for Saint Paul and Saint George Islands, and Pribilof Islands region. The City of Saint Paul was recently awarded an FY23 USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant for its regional action plan proposal in partnership with Saint George Island. This first-of-its-kind regional Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for Saint Paul and Saint George Islands and Pribilof Islands region will provide a framework of innovative strategies and implementation actions intended to reduce transportation-related fatalities and serious injuries while also supporting federal safety initiatives.
The plan will identify safety issues and specific actions that can be implemented to improve safety for people traveling by any mode throughout the Pribilof Islands region.
The plan will develop recommendations for both motorized and non-motorized modes in the roadway network as well as other elements including land use, transit, freight, and other community factors to create a comprehensive course of action.
The plan will address federal and state regulations, including design guidance as well as performance management goals, measures, and targets, and will promote equitable outcomes.
To be considered, proposals must be received no later than Friday, October 6, 2023, at 5:00 PM Alaska Time.
