The City received is received a new supply of home heating fuel from Vitus Marine on August 18, 2026. The price the City paid Vitus per gallon was $7.55 per gallon. To run the Bulk Fuel Utility operation, the City adds a surcharge per gallon to store fuel, deliver fuel to customer, and to cover operational costs such as insurance, accounting, other utilities, maintenance, etc. The City is working to keep this charge as low as possible but still cover our costs to provide fuel services to the community. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing war in Iran fuel prices remain high. Most of the cost customers pay for heating fuel is the cost that City pays Vitus to deliver it here. The City has talked with other fuel suppliers on delivering fuel to the island, but they either do not have the barges to deliver it here or the price is higher. If you have any questions regarding fuel costs please email the City Manager at pazavadil@stpaulak.com.
