On Friday, October 6, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced a season opener of October 15 for two of the three iconic crab species in the Bering Sea: tanner (also called bairdi) and Bristol Bay red king crab. Snow crab (also called opilio) is closed again due to a catastrophic population crash in 2021. A total of five ADFG Advisory Announcements released on October 6 are available to download below:
